Dive in Silenrieux: Barage l’eau d’heure: Sunday September 24, 2006

Today is another time when we join Scubacollege for a dive. It’s easy, we are member of the club and we can rent our equipment with the club. At 08:30 Mike picks us up at our place and we drive to Walem. There we need to take all of our equipment from the van and load everything into the car of Mike. Eef already has some material of her own, so she does not need all of the equipment. At 09:35 we’re done and we go to the carpool parking in Kontich and wait there to follow someone. We leave on time (09:45) because it takes a while to drive via Brussels, Charleroi and Beaumont to the village of Silenrieux. There is a big reservoir and it’s partially accessible for divers. We are 13 people in total. First we check out the spot, now we join someone else: Robby. He is a rescue diver and can easily take us down, not too deep, but we’ll just go to 13 meters and then dive for fun only. We prepare and go into the water at 12:30. We immediately dive to an autobus and follow a white cable for that. The cable guides us from the shore to the bus. A lot of perches swim around the bus. We swim to the other side of the bus and we swim to the other side of the lake up a slope. We spot a broken barrel and plenty of dead crayfish L. Suddenly in the light of Robby’s torch a pike appears. There is a whole ‘gang’ here, all of them very small, but you clearly see it’s a pike. Great. After 37 minutes Timo’s tank is only filled to 30 bar (that fast already?). So Timo goes out of the water and the others dive another 20 minutes. Timo changes and we discuss the dive with the four of us with the company of Leffe, a Chimay and a cola. At 16:00 we take the car and drive back to Sint-Amands. We rinse our gear outside at home and we eat something. A nice day, but way too far to see few things, but again this was a good exercise.
